More than media training

Practical, easy-to-implement tips on how to make sure that what you want to say, comes across the way you intended.

Training that recognises the complexities of living in communities where relationships trump everything.

Covering everything from social media and the role of internal communications and marketing teams, through working with the media in a crisis and developing your personal brand.

We communicate differently because we are different. This training supports you to do more of what you’re good at - not to squeeze yourself into boxes you were never meant to fit in.

Communications and media training for public sector leaders

Who: Leaders of businesses of any size (including those who have done media training in the past)

Duration: 4 - 6 hours

Where: Around NZ and Australia

Give your elected members and leaders the tools to communicate with confidence; in public, online, and under pressure.

In today’s political environment, elected members and public sector leaders are expected to be able to communicate to an extraordinary level; across social media, in front of journalists, and in moments of crisis.

It’s not an easy task, and one that requires communication skills that not everyone has experience with.

This practical, one-day workshop is designed for public sector leaders. It blends best practice strategy, real world examples, and hands-on activities to help leaders understand their role, protect their reputation, and engage the public without losing their voice.

We go beyond basic media training; covering everything from code of conduct and crisis messaging to managing misinformation, building a personal brand, and navigating the risks of AI and deepfakes.

  • “Lizi delivered comms training to staff and elected members in her enthusiastic and her original dynamic manner – sharing some hilarious ‘war’ stories. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.”

Carol Gordon, Chief Executive, Rangitīkei District Council

  • "No matter who she is working with (from recent graduates to octogenarians and everyone in between) Lizi earns respect quickly and builds trust and confidence in what she has to share. She’s smart, relatable and humble - a combination that makes her easy to listen to and learn from. "

Sam Rossiter-Stead, General Manager, Environment Southland

  • "I attended a workshop as part of my induction into the Invercargill City Council. I was unsure as to what I could take from the workshop, as It was an area I had worked in for a long time. The workshop was a revelation. It was a one day event, among three weeks of presentations. It stood out like a beacon. Lizi is a very effective communicator. She is relaxed and real. She is also very concise.

Marcus Lush, Broadcaster and Invercargill City Council Elected Member
